Dental Dread

Can I just tell you one thing I absolutely hate? The Dentist. I don't know why I dislike it so much but going to the dentist is absolutely dreadful. Even getting my teeth cleaned is one of my least favorite things to do. They almost always have bad news for me no matter how much, I clean, floss, brush etc... Last time I visited the dentist for a cleaning, they praised me for my dental hygiene and then told me I needed 2 crowns and a cavity filled. Way to kick a girl when she's down. Am I right? Today, I had an appointment with my dentist to fill that darn cavity and prep my tooth for a crown. Grrrr.....
As I was lying there in the dental chair, I tried to place myself somewhere else, anywhere else to help get my mind off my reality. I pictured myself on the beach with a drink in my hand enjoying the ocean view, and all the beautiful people but no matter how hard I tried, all I could think of was how I would rather be anywhere else than right there in that very chair. Like bootcamp, or doing yard work (I hate yard work), or scrubbing the toilets. I'm pretty sure all those things confirmed just how much I dislike the dentist.

All in all, it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated but... It didn't make me want to go back anytime soon.
I have another appointment in 2 weeks : (

Weekend in Montgomery

After two snow days in Memphis, we traveled south for the weekend for a much needed trip home.

I love the cold weather, but when it interferes with day to day life it can kinda take a toll on your nerves. Thursday we had the prettiest snow day I have ever seen. The sun was shining and it was just gorgeous. Peyton loved every minute of being outside.

We had a busy weekend planned in Montgomery. It was our first trip back since Christmas.

I got the pleasure of keeping my sweet nephew on Saturday. He's just the sweetest thing.

He had a nice little stroll in his wagon.

Saturday night we celebrated my cousin's 30th Birthday! It was so much fun getting to spend time with my family who I rarely get to see.

I love this guy I get to call my husband.

On Sunday, we attended my nephews Dedication service at their church followed by lunch at my Brothers house.

I don't know about ya'll but I am looking forward to another great weekend.

Trip to Nashville

If you haven't purchased the new Maroon 5 album, I highly recommend it. I have always loved Maroon 5. Their talent continues to amaze me and Adam Levine isn't so bad either. Seriously, every song on their new album is good. One of my favorites is "Sugar".

A while back, I mentioned to my Momma that we should take a girl's trip to go to one of their concerts. Luckily, they were playing in Nashville. Nashville is such a fun city to visit. It didn't take much persuasion to convince us to take the plunge and plan a trip to Music City.

Whenever I travel my #1 priority is what I am going to eat. I am a foodie for sure and I love to try new things. I always tell people, if I stop eating, call a doctor because something must be seriously wrong. I love to research restaurants. However, I do not solely base my restaurant picks on reviews. I have more of a visual palate. If something looks appetizing to me, it usually will be. Some say don't judge a book by its cover, but as far as food goes... I totally disagree. Unless, you look at some of my photos from my recipes. I blame that on the photographer (Me)! Hehe!!!

 Overview of our Trip

We arrived in Nashville, on Thursday of last week and ate a fantastic lunch before checking into the hotel. We stayed in the Hampton Inn and Suites in downtown Nashville. I chose this hotel because it is walking distance from most area attractions including the concert. The hotel was nothing extravagant but it was clean and perfect for our stay.
We had a little time to spare before dinner, so we walked over to this cute lil' bar called Barlines for a cocktail. They had a pretty good looking menu and featured live country music. Everywhere you go in Nashville has country music playing. It speaks to my soul and makes me love this city even more!

Thursday night, I had made reservations at Virago. We love Asian inspired cuisine and are suckers for great sushi, so I knew we would enjoy this place. The restaurant is in an up and coming neighborhood called The Gulch. The Gulch features a handful of trendy restaurants. Let me just start by saying, that this restaurant was out of this World good!!! I am already wanting to go back and the service was fantastic.

We started our dinner with an order of the V2 edamame. I failed to take a picture of the edamame mainly because I was so concerned about devouring this irresistible appetizer. The V2 edamame featured a spicy, sweet sauce that was literally finger-licking good.

For dinner, we decided to order two different types of sushi. After recommendations from our server, we decided on the Oishii roll featured here

and the Tanto.

Best Sushi Ever! Hands Down!!! It was so fresh and the flavors offered a different twist to sushi that I have ordered in the past. When I go back, I have a feeling I will have a hard time trying something else off the menu because these items were so good. We also ordered a side of the Crispy Brussels Sprouts. We ate every bite of what we ordered.

Friday (the day of the concert), we decided to eat breakfast and an early dinner so that we would make it to the concert on time. We found this cute restaurant called Biscuit Love. Adorable, I know. It used to be a food truck but transitioned into this restaurant. You could tell everything was homemade including their Bloody Mary which was on point. Loved this sign they had.

After breakfast, we ventured out for a little retail therapy before finally ending up at another great restaurant.

Saint Anejo features a fresh perspective on mexican. I had the hardest time deciding on what to order here because everything looked amazing. I decided on the skillet nachos mainly because they had the most ingredients of any menu item and I don't want to miss a thing.

Skillet Nachos with hot chicken and veggies. We also enjoyed their Chile Con Queso with spicy crab. Delicious!

Saint Anejo also features a great cocktail menu with inspiring drink combos.

Maroon 5 Concert

The concert was great! It was high energy and full of unbelievable talent. I tried my best to take some photos but the lights were really a disadvantage. We had great seats. Here are the two best photos of Adam doing his thing.

After the concert, we ran into my cousin. It was great getting to see her. Have you ever noticed the comfort you receive from knowing someone in an unfamiliar setting? Total coincidence.

The trip was a wonderful getaway from our everyday life. 2015 has proven to be an unwelcomed, hectic year thus far. It's time away from your everyday life that really helps you refocus.

Can't wait to visit Nashville again!
